Reach Standards

At Imba-Roots Supported living we have set out and created nine voluntary standards to ensure people are supported to live the life they choose with the same choices and responsibilities as other citizens. Fundamentally the Reach standards remind us about the human rights for all and it is our duty to protect these. Our standards will provide the benchmark for quality and aspiration. They hold a person at the centre in any aspect of their life including their housing and support.

WE will ensure that the Reach Standards for all are met. It will be our responsibility to ensure that we work together with our clients to realise their rights to live good, ordinary lives.

The principles of supported living have always been about supporting vulnerable people with a learning disability and/autism and mental illness to live a life of their choice with the right support- hence “support for living”.

Imba-Roots takes into consideration that supported living is a service model where small groups of people live together with little choice of where or who they live with, who supports them and how they live. We will ensure that the level of support they receive is good, they choose their friends and relationships, they choose how to be healthy and safe, they choose how to be part of the community and they have the same rights and responsibilities as any other citizens and they get help to make changes in their life. We value that no two people have the same desires, expectations, wants or needs. Each person is a unique human being.

We will highly consider the fact the people are harmed and let down when support isn’t designed with and for them as individuals and when support is not offered in a way that enables their lives to reach full potential and gain independence. We will value good relationships between a person and their supporters take time, effort and thoughtfulness. We understand that every person has unique wishes and needs also these vary with age ,emotional and physical health, religion, culture, gender sexuality and life situations, These can change over time. We will strive to provide superior support in a fluid manner and evolve with an individual throughout their life.
